Frequently Asked Questions
How is Notes different from direct dictation?
Direct dictation places text into another app when you are ready to write there. Notes saves spoken thoughts inside SpeakON, so you can come back to them later.
Will users just use direct dictation instead?
Some moments are ready-to-send. Those are direct dictation moments. Notes is for moments without a clear destination yet: a reminder, rough idea, longer thought, or follow-up you want to revisit.
Does SpeakON create a note every time I press the button?
No. SpeakON first checks whether there’s a place to put your text. If you’re in a text field, your words appear there. If there isn’t a text field, or if you want to save the thought for later, SpeakON saves it as a Note.
Can I edit a note after recording it?
Yes. Open a saved note to edit the text, continue it by voice edit, refine it with spoken instructions, copy it, share it, or delete it.
Can I create a note when my iPhone is locked?
Yes. You can start a voice note with the SpeakON hardware button, even from the Lock Screen.
